If you don’t know…WCA extends their sports programs to the 2nd-5th grade interested students-athletes who want to try out a variety of sports! This Fall the kids put their energy to Soccer and finished out with some great competition to put their skills to work. Thank you to all of our Junior Eagle upper school coaches who dedicate their time and effort to helping these younger kids to learn and love the sport. For the second and third grade competition, we had the “Minnows” coached by Senior Nathan Watson and Junior Colton Fowler take on the “Scorpion Warriors” coached by Seniors Jack Marlowe and Anthony Kulwikowski. The Scorpion Warriors pulled out a win 2-0. For the forth and fifth grade competition, the “Rizzlers” coached by Junior Julian LaPastora and Sophomore Alex Kulwikowski took on the “Black Panthers” coached by Senior Luka Vukcevic and Junior Anna Kurschat with the Black Panthers getting a late goal to secure the win 1-0. This past Saturday (11/04/23) the Eagles Cross Country team travelled to Richmond Christian for the VMAC Championship Middle School race. The Eagle running squad left with the Runner-Up trophy after outstanding performances by our top 5 scorers on the team. Placing second overall was 7th grade running phenom Colton Marlowe who was awarded a medal for his exceptional performance at 6.08 paced miles. Newcomer and 6th grader Kyle Collier gave his best performance as well placing 4th overall and clocking at 6.51 per mile. Way to go Kyle! Our top five were rounded out by 8th grader and 4 year veteran who has dropped the most time from last year’s season and finished 10th overall in the Middle School conference race Cole Rudd, 7th grade newcomer placing 14th Deacon O’Connor and 5th grade newcomer placing 16th overall Colt Darden. The WCA Lady Eagles MS, JV, and varsity teams finished out their Volleyball seasons November 3rd in VMAC Quarterfinals play. Way to push through to the end of your season girls! Every team improved greatly in team chemistry and court knowledge. It will be hard to say goodbye to our Senior players and outstanding leaders Caroline Cadden, Rayanne Hepburn and Kiana Mueller. The Varsity boys Soccer team took on VMAC conference co-competitors, the Carmel School Wildcats, on October 24th in Semifinal play and emerged victorious in a nail biter of a game going back and forth until Sophomore striker Colton Fowler hit the game winning shot in double overtime! The Eagles advanced to the championship match-up vs. state-ranked co-competitors, the Grace Christian School where they fell 2-5 but played their hearts out for the Seniors last game of the season on October 27. Congratulations to VMAC All-Conference First team picks Senior goalkeeper Devin Darden, Senior midfielder Jack Marlowe, and Senior defense specialist Nathan Watson along with Sophomore striker Colton Fowler. Congratulations also to VMAC All-Tournament picks Senior Watson and Junior defender Julian LaPastora.And....Last but not least, a special shout out to our VMAC First Team All-Conference pick and the VMAC "Player of the Year" Senior midfielder Luka Vukcevic who ended his season with 11 goals (3 PK goals), 3 assists, and 27 total shots on goal!
